Reflux 3yo

Hello

I'm after experiences with reflux in older children.
My daughter is nearly 3.5 and has had reflux since being 3 weeks old. She has been medicated since 6 weeks and has required high dose medication in order to bring the reflux close to being controlled

She is currently on omperazole gaviscon infant and domperidone which stops it being horrendous but it falls short of controlling it. Her teeth are becoming damaged from the acid damage.

In addition to her reflux she has 20 food allergies which are under control and managed with a stable diet. We had very little progress with reintroductions. In addition to removing food she's allergic too we have had to remove foods to protect her teeth and she also has toddler diarrhoea so various foods are limited or removed for that to which has improved it loads. She is such a happy thing and doesn't complain when we say she can't have something any more. At the moment she complains daily of a sore tummy or bottom which is heartbreaking. We have been under a paediatrician since 4 months but he has recently put a referral in for a specialist paediatrician because she's not responding on treatment how he would like.
We feel a bit lost with it all and just want a happy health child ideally one that slept! Any experience would be welcomed thank you!

Hi OP, she sounds a bit like my DD who turned out to be coeliac. Has she ever been tested for coeliac disease? It's worth a shot and it's usually just a blood test.

She has had the blood test which was negative coeliacs and a poo test that showed slightly elevated inflammation markers but only just over normal levels

I meant to say as well she is small in height on the 1st percentile but has very good weight and is mostly just over the 25th percentile for weight

We have seen a gastro specialist and they have increased her omperazole to the top dose for her age rather than weight as the general paediatrician had been doing and of that doesn't help she is changing the domperidone to 3 times a day from once. We had been giving this a little as possible which she was in agreement with

She thinks it's a mix of reflux and regurgitation syndrome as her stomach is used to bringing up it's contents. Hopefully the increased meds help, she doesn't think there is any benefit in doing further investigations as it wouldn't change how she would treat the reflux.

I need to check in with our dietician as we haven't seen her for a while.
