Mild chicken pox?

DS 6 has had chicken pox for the first time over the last week or so. It's been going round his class.

He has had it very mildly thankfully with a vast amazing of spots here and there, maybe 20/25 ish. A few on each leg, several on his tummy, 3 on his back and the rest on his neck and around his nose.
I always assumed when a child gets pox they would be pickled (as I was as a child!) but it's surprised me how he hasn't been covered in spots.

I'm not complaining obviously but I just wondered if anyone else's child has had it mildly?

DD2 had it as a baby and had about 8 to 10 spots in total. She didn’t get it when it went round her class when she was 6 either.

My children had a mild dose but my husband then caught it, and he was covered in spots and very miserable. What a fun Christmas that was... (not recently)

Yep DS1 had about 3 spots when he was a toddler. Then got shingles when he was 16 but then that was mild as well.

My dd got it mildly at 9 months. Then again worse but still relatively mildly age 7. My other dd was much worse with it

Two of mine had a very mild dose - just a few spots that you could count. The little one had it horrifying badly - spots absolutely everywhere, in her vulva and everything.

I had it when I was about 16 (caught it from a childcare setting). Had about half a dozen spots, absolutely fine. Passed it on to my younger sibling and they were COVERED! Spots absolutely everywhere and quite unwell.
I've had shingles in the last few years and that was mild too. I'm not sure if that's good or bad 😬

My son got it first and was extremely poorly. He had two weeks of being very ill and whilst he was of school age we had to put him in a pushchair and wrap him up to walk along the sea front to get him fresh sea air whilst he was convalescing.

Once he recovered he was fine.

Shortly after my daughter who was nearly three years younger, caught it. She only had a few spots and had it very mildly and wasn't unwell at all.

Best wishes for your son.
