When to worry..

Title is a little misleading as I am awake worrying!
DD just turned 2, has been ill for a week, temps between 38 and 40, no appetite, generally miserable, complaining of pain.
Took her to ooh on Saturday after phoning 111 and she was prescribed antibiotics for a suspected ear infection.
She just seems to be exactly the same if not worse, just done her temp now- 39.9, it comes down with calpol.
Shes still not eating (not had anything at all other than breastmilk) even refuses chocolate buttons.
Tonight she's also started coughing and is struggling to breastfeed as she's snotty.

Do I give the antibiotics a bit longer or phone Dr later today do you think?

Thanks in advance

I’d say at this age it’s always trust your gut.

It’s normally 48h for antibiotics to get working. Are you able to get enough fluid into her?

Go back. Ask for a urine sample to be taken. My DD was falsely diagnosed with an ear infection and the antibiotics weren't doing anything. She was 11 months and I ended up going to a&e on a weekend as she was getting worse and worse with high temps. She had early sepsis from a UTI and was in hospitals for a week.
Trust your gut. Long standing fever needs investigation

Thank you both, she's drinking plenty because she's having breastmilk plus some water.
You're both right of course.
Temp is down now so will phone Dr at 8 unless she gets worse in meantime

Get her checked, better safe than sorry. When DS was 3 he’d not been well- diagnosed with tonsillitis but one evening I just had a feeling. There was nothing really I could put my finger on, other than he smelled a bit different. I took him to A&E (property questioned myself about wasting their time) no sooner than we arrived he arrested and needed resuscitation. He really had strep-A and spent over a week in HDU with a nurse camped outside his little cubicle. Thank goodness I trusted my niggle, he wouldn’t be here otherwise!

Hello all - an update!

So we phoned GP and they suggested a watch and wait approach, she also has had hand foot and mouth since.
She is having temps every night though her temp in the day is around 37.7 .
She's still not eating (literally occasionally a spoon of yoghurt? And has lost 1kg in last 2 weeks.

We went to GP yesterday and she said she'd like a urine sample to rule out UTI and if that's negative we may need to go to hospital for further tests as she shouldn't have a temp for this long even if just at night.

Tried and tried to get a urine sample and only managed the smallest amount which we took in.
Trying again this afternoon to get a further sample.

Anyone have any ideas about what could be going on? Anything I can try to see if she'll eat.

I'm concerned going in to a bank holiday weekend, I'll be phoning Dr tomorrow to see if they were able to test urine or not.

Thanks for any responses x

Is there anything specific I should be asking/requesting do you think?
