Recurring sickness bugs

Hi
My son keeps getting stomach bugs. He had one on starting on 27th October, it was terrible, so much sick, that lasted about 5 days.
Then he got another on 19th November, started with vomiting for 2 days, then diarrhea for another 3 days

Then today 4th December hes just started vomiting with a high temperature again.

Is it possible to get tummy bugs this often? Or does anyone have a clue if this is a sign of something else?

Thanks

Have you bought him a new toothbrush after each bug? You can keep re infecting. Is anyone else in the house getting the bugs or in his class?

Could he be allergic to something - gluten for instance? Or have you been on holiday somewhere he could have picked up amoebic dysentery or giardia? I think that can come and go until it's treated.

Apart from the obvious cleansing rituals have you also made sure his water bottle is thoroughly cleaned? We had this a few years ago, it turned out to be the sistema water bottle that he used for school.
Other than that, there is so much going around at the moment, and when their immune systems have had a knock it seems they catch everything going. I feel for you, I hope he gets well soon. 💐

Sounds silly but hand washing is paramount: especially after school. Those little hands have been and touched EVERYWHERE during the school day.

Probiotics : these are great. Get some strong ones for gut immunity.

When did he last have covid?

You can get run down after many viral infections, but covid is remarkably good at dampening the immune system and that effect can easily last for months. Which means people are catching more infections, more readily and finding them that little bit harder to shake off.

There isn't much you can do, other than ensure he gets plenty of rest. And do your best to avoid catching other infections - press for better ventilations in school, wear masks when indoors with strangers etc. Because he needs time to recuperate without catching anything else

Thanks for your replies. He was only sick the once last night and seems ok this morning. Now I'm wondering if he was sick because he and a temperature. So confusing. But anyway now he has to have the 48 hours of nursery again

So it turned out to be hand, foot and mouth. Jesus my children seemed to have gone through the A-Z of children's illnesses this year

My 5yo is just getting over hand, foot and mouth! Seems to be doing the rounds. He was also sick once, then high temp and sleepy, then the spots on his hands and face. He's a lot better now but the spots are taking a bit of time to clear

Yes very weird how they are sick once. My other son was sick once yesterday, so I am assuming he has caught it too

I feel I could've wrote this. My two little ones have been ill with a horrible cold, hand foot and mouth and this week have the bloody sickness bug - this is in the space of about 3-4 weeks. It seems to be my daughter in reception getting it, and giving it to her brother in Nursey 🥴

Sending lots of virtual hugs and strength 💐
