Private dentist for pre schooler - does it make a difference?

Hi,

My DC 5 requires a few fillings.
Our local NHS dentist suggested that they are all removed. Went to see a private one and they said they can do fillings on them.

However, my colleague has done her DCs teeth for free at another dental clinic which only treats children.

In my experience (it could just be due to my local clinic not being great), going private has been absolutely worth it in terms of quality of treatment i received.

I wonder Is it the same when it comes to children's dental treatment?

My 3 yo has a cavity and we have been told that she can't have a filling as they don't do them on young children as it can traumatising. I don't know when this stops but it might be dentist dependent and that might be behind the different behaviour.

Treatment plan for my daughter (private) is to keep an eye on the tooth and give 3 monthly fluoride treatment and she might need a crown as some point as they can do this without any drilling the caveat is that is can only be done on mild to moderate cavities and isn't an option if they get too bad.

We are trying to get an NHS dentist and will be finding on what treatment options are available when we manage to get an appointment as want her teeth cared for fully. Her teeth have acid damage due to uncontrolled reflux.
