Cut finger - what to do

My DD 4 closed her finger in a door while we were at a restaurant earlier today.

It really hurt her and it did bleed quite a bit at the time.

I've obviously cleaned the cut and put a plaster on - also took her straight to the pharmacist for their opinion.

All this happened at around 3pm this afternoon. We've just got home and I've changed the plaster and it's still bleeding a bit.

She's absolutely fine in herself and not complaining at all. I'm just concerned if it's still bleeding - even a small amount in comparison to earlier - that it could be deep.

The cut in itself is only 1cm across.

TIA

I don't think you can bleed out from a finger!

More likely it's an area that moves a lot so will take a while to knit back together.

Do you have a photo? Cuts around the nail can affect nail growth long-term and may need something doing. Persistent bleeding may also indicate communication with an underlying fracture (because broken bones bleed), which needs treatment with antibiotics and sometimes intervention

@TooManyAnimals94 that made me laugh, thank you 😂

I'm just concerned it could need a little stitch. Will keep an eye on it and try to calm down 😆

Oooh! I will get a picture for you to have a look at.

She can move it just fine - that was my first concern. The door was pretty heavy!

I'd keep it elevated and put pressure on the bleeding part. I'd then budding strap it to the next finger for support. You could also use a sling to keep it elevated and stop her moving it so much.
