Hi there - can you please recommend a private healthcare that would cover existing conditions and not be horrendously expensive

No insurance will immediately cover pre-existing conditions, it’s just not how things work. Most will cover them after a set number of years though (DD’s Bupa policy says 5 years of no symptoms/treatment of a pre-existing condition for them to pay out for it). DD’s policy started out at around £30 per month, she’s now 19 though and has had 2 surgeries this year which have increased it to £55🙈

Benenden will cover pre-existing and is a really good alternative to proper insurance, only £12 per month. You have to be aware though that it’s a back up to the NHS and there is a lot that they won’t cover eg: major surgery, cardiac issues, spinal surgery etc. If you can afford it go for the ‘real’ insurance as speaking from experience you never know when you might need it. DD was diagnosed with scoliosis when we only had Benenden and therefore was forced to wait a whole year in pain for surgery on the NHS. Her life effectively went on pause and I told myself I’d never let her suffer like that again, hence she is now insured to the max…! The sad reality of our broken NHS these days
