Dairy intolerance in 4yr old

Does anyone have experience of dairy intolerance? Our son (almost 4yrs) can have up to 10 bowel movements a day. Sometimes quite strong smelling, more mushy dark consistency. We’re trying to get to the bottom of why! Have been in touch with the GP who referred us to the Eric’s website. We are trialling eliminating dairy from his diet to rule out dairy intolerance. Just wondering if anyone has experience of this what the symptoms were? Can’t see a massive improvement after a week but we have slipped up (birthday cake) so not not sure if it just needs more time to get out of his system.

Are you sure he isn't coeliac? My DD was the same and it took over 13 months of her suffering horrible ailments before the GP agreed to a blood test which flagged it up.

Delayed allergies present as you have described frequent loose stools and other gastric symptoms.
Dairy would be the first port for such symptoms but also look into toddler diarrhoea.
With delayed allergies it can take 3 days for symptoms to appear after eating a food and 3-6 weeks is usually required to see an improvement and during this time don't use soya milk and yoghurt alternatives. Once you have seen an improvement you can introduce them it's just about half of children will be allergic to both

If you suspect coeliacs disease do not make any changes to the wheat/gluten in their diet.you need it in their diets for 6 weeks in order to have the tests.
