Hi everyone

it’s nearly 1am and I’m awake feeling anxious.

5 year old little boy.

Thursday and Friday - headache and tummy ache. Very slight temp but under 38 and came straight down and didn’t go back up again. Off food but able to play and seemed brighter Friday.

Friday night - up 4 times being sick.

saturday and Sunday - loss of appetite but drinking fine, playing etc.

Monday went cycling for 3 hours.

Tuesday (yesterday) - fine, not as hungry but able to do all his normal things.

just before midnight - sick a couple of times. No temperature. He says nowhere hurts.

he’s got a bit of a cough which is worse when he wakes up.

I don’t know what to do - he’s never been unwell with sickness like this before and I’ve never heard of bouts of sickness this far apart.

hoping someone’s awake to chat to and thank you for reading x

Hi this actually happens to my son for some reason & not my girls (I have no idea why) but he will be sick a few times then okay ish for a couple of days then he's sick again. When I asked the gp about it he said it's normal for kids his age .. he's 4 lol I was like hmmm are u sure lol but he told me to give him yogurt to put good bacteria back into his body or something. I'd defo speak to gp & see what they say! Hope little one gets better soon! X

Thank you for replying. He’s dairy and egg free as I did wonder if something had irritated his tummy but he’s had pretty bland foods today.

Have you done a covid test? The new strain is causing sickness.

mulberrybag5 · 01/11/2023 08:38

I’m going to test today x

How is little one today?

mulberrybag5 · 05/11/2023 03:52

He’s been sick again at 3.30am.

So that’s Friday, Wednesday and Saturday night.

no temperature and has been totally well in himself thursday, Friday and today. Normal appetite was back from Thursday.

he’s had a cough and I thought that caused Wednesdays sickness but he said he wasn’t coughing before he just woke and was sick again.

im reallly worried

From my experience I'd say getting back to normal too quick. So he's not quite over it then gets worse again when he starts trying to do his normal amount of activity. Nothing there that would worry me personally, but if you are worried there's no harm in seeing your GP.

If your dc has catarrh, it could be that which is causing him to vomit.

If he is drinking well, not dehydrated, his temp is low and he seems happy in himself, I'd leave it but keep him home, warm and quiet for a few days. Give it a chance to pass.

grapesandplums · 05/11/2023 05:28

My 6 year old has just had a bug similar! He had cold symptoms for a week but was also being randomly sick. We thought it was from phlegm / coughing but then my daughter & husband also had random bouts of vomiting to varying degrees. Tested negative for covid. So don't let this put you off seeking medical advice. You should still do that if you're worried, but also try to be reassured that we've had similar x

MrsNandortheRelentless · 05/11/2023 06:51

So he is eating, drinking, peeing and pooing and back to normal in himself with no temperature.

No need for a GP appointment, sounds like the tail end of a viral infection.

mulberrybag5 · 05/11/2023 08:31

Thanks everyone. It’s just so so random! He’s woken this morning saying he’s hungry. I’m going to try to give him tea earlier as maybe he was too full, woke up with a tummy ache and started coughing and then he was sick.
