Hi all,

We've had a bit of a long journey but just wanted to see if there was anyone else out here with similar.

At our 20 week scan, we found out our little man had ventriculomegaly, I think at the time they were expecting the ventricles to measure below 10mm to be considered normal, and ours was around 11mm.. we had an MRI in utero which confirmed this and numerous visits to Liverpool Womens for constant check ups, I must say the support we received particularly at Liverpool Womens was fantastic, we were re-assured that although it was slightly above the normal measurements it is not necessarily cause for concern, however, they did recommend a Micro Array Amnio to test for anything genetic, after the longest 2 weeks of our lives we finally had a negative result back which was a relief, however, the ventricles remained slightly enlarged the rest of the pregnancy.

When our boy was born, he was just perfect, he had a follow-up ultrasound following birth, where it was reported that the ventricles appear to be normal for a baby of his age, we have been under paediatric care ever since, we had to have another follow up MRI at 6 months as his head was off the charts or 90th centile (that bit I can't quite remember) however the result came back to say normal development and brain looks to be developing well (ventricles are also not enlarged)

In terms of him now, he's 15 months old, developing well, starting to say his first words - moving, crawling, strong etc, so we have no concerns.

We do have a follow up apt next month just to check in on him etc meeting milestones which has started to induce this anxiety again, this post was two-fold number 1 I wanted to reassure others that it's not always the worst case scenario, and after meeting numerous consultants and doctors they did mention that ventriculomegaly can come up quite often on scans as now as they are extremely precise and historically not something they would overly look at.

Lots of tears, lots of hope and ups and downs along the way but he is turning into a little star.

Just wondering if anyone has experienced similar and how did your little ones develop as they got older?
