Sudden stutter

My just turned 3 year old has suddenly gained a stutter. It's almost always on 'w' words, when he is asking a who/what/when/where/why question. Has anyone experience of this and how long it took for your child to outgrow it? It's combined with starting to say no to going to his childcare/being pretty upset at drop off
so also an element of me worrying if it is because he is nervous about day to day life now, and not just a developmental thing. Any experiences welcome! Thanks.

In June my daughter development a stutter. She was 2y10m by the time she turned 3 it had gone.
We don't know why it came or how it left.
She struggled with repeating sounds like in mummy which honestly was so grating when it was 400 times a day.

We were a bit worried as she stopped talking when she was 18 months old and her speech was behind her peers for a while. Thankfully for us it didn't last probably 3 or 4 weeks of being pronounced and a few week either side as it started and then slowly went.

We avoided commenting on the speech or pulling her up on it as well as not saying the word for her as we didn't want to draw too much attention too it both to not make it worse and to not make her self conscious. If it stuck around we were going to contact the HV. We had done some work with her language after speaking to someone from our HV team when we last had a decline in her speech and that was helpful.

It might be worth a chat with their childcare to see if they are doing it there?
