Hi, I am looking for advice please! I'm at my whits end. My son has has diarrhoea since 3 weeks and it isn't going away. I've tried changing his diet and all sorts with no luck. He is doing it around 6 times a day. He has a diary, egg and peanut allergy and therefore he is on soya milk. I have always kept his diet restricted to specific foods and haven't given him anything new that I believe would have brought on the diarrhoea. I took him to the GP on Friday and they took a stool sample. Have called in this morning and they said a stool sample takes up to 2 weeks. I mean isn't that too long of a wait. I'm terrified that it could be something serious. He is although well in himself. Any advice would be really appreciated thank youBlush

I'm really sorry you're going through this. I'm not sure how to help but I just wanted to say that this sounds really difficult and I hope they find out what it is soon.

Could he be reacting to the soya milk now? Could you try a different plant based milk to see of it helps? Or it could be 'toddler diarrhoea' which they apparently grow out of. Increase fats and decrease fibre and minimise fruit juices to help

I would retest soya as an allergy. Look for all ingredients. My daughter has 20 food allergies and some are quite obscure for example pea protein. She's fine with actual peas but can't handle the isolated protein which rules out alpro alternative milks and products. Another odd one is manioca/tapioca which was identified after she tried the almond petit filous. She had different almond yoghurts previously without issue.

My daughter has a very sensitive tummy and pretty much everything can cause her to have diarrhoea including allergies, stress, colds and illness, vaccines and completely random. Most of the time we now can't identify the source of her loose stools. She has a diagnosis of toddler diarrhoea which to me is a bit of a cop out but never mind. We have tried to make some dietary changes reduced the frequency she has grapes and switched to white bread and tried to up her fat content. At the start of the year she had 3 loose stools in day 5 times a week now she has it once a fortnight. I don't know what else has changed in her to improve it. Time I guess
