To stop taking DS to toddler group

My DS is 14 months old, we currently go to a toddler group once a week which he loves but every week/ every 2 weeks he gets an awful cough and sometimes really snotty. They don’t just last a few days, they last at least a couple of weeks then it’ll be gone for a week and then it’s back again. It keeps him awake for hours at night with the constant coughing and bunged up nose. We’ve seen the GP who says it’ll go in a few days and he has cough medicine and nasal sprays but it seems to be constant. I can’t help but think perhaps we should stop the toddler group but he doesn’t go to nursery so the interaction with other toddlers he benefits from. Is it normal to have a cough this much? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Some kids catch everything, my first did and I ended up pulling him out of nursery it was extreme ( hand, foot and mouth, colds, chest infections, viral infections that landed him in hospital with convulsions).

The more they socialise they built up a better immunity and generally you only catch the same viral infection once, I would say stick with it abit longer but can fully sympathise the tiredness and stress you get from ill kids.

@Alargeoneplease89 Oh goodness bless him! Thank you! Yes another reason I wanted to keep him going there is to build up his immune system. I’ll keep him there and see how it goes.

I'd stick with it, of course not ideal he's ill but he's building immunity, and hopefully once he goes to nursery and school he'll have a resilient immune system, which won't be as likely if you stay home all the time. Have you tried some kids' supplements particularly Vit C and Vit D? And bring him in the bathroom whilst you have a hot shower so he benefits from the steam, it will help clear his chest and nose.

@PinkRoses1245 Yes I think we’re going to stick with it, like you say he’ll hopefully have a better immune system for nursery/school. I’ve been and bought some multivitamin drops so hopefully they will help too. Yes he’s always in the bathroom with us aswell, thank you so much for your advice!
