Constant elevated temp

would you be concerned if your child sat almost permanently at 37.3-37.5? I know it’s not a fever, but I feel that for the last year this is her “normal” and it didn’t used to be! She used to be 36.5 like her brother and he still is but every time I take her temp it’s never less than 37.3. Gp not worried as it’s not a fever but it so nearly Is I wonder if it’s a bit high to be constantly up? I have major health anxiety so hope to be told I’m massively overthinking this!

DD was like that. Always warm, a fixed 37.2. Which was a pain because preschool was constantly calling me at work to come and pick her up because she had a "fever" (anything above 37 was fever for them). Took me ages and endless GP's letters to let them accept it was her temperature.

Now she is a gorgeous young adult, and she doesn't feel warm anymore. It was just her being her.

Why are you taking her temperature?

Mandarina4 · 04/10/2023 12:31

If GP is not worried I would stop checking the temperature. I only do it when he looks or feels ill. We all have different temperature as far as I know. My sister has over 37 constantly, I barely reach 36 C.
If blood tests are OK, feels well, no signs of disease, I wouldn't worry more about it.

I err on the warm side but I rarely take my temperature or the kids so I have no idea what they sit at 'normally'! If she is well, leave her be!
