My teenage sons Haemoglobin Concentration is 163 g/L it
Average reading between 130-160
However I always thought the haemoglobin level was in a number around 12-16 ish?
I remember everytime I've had a blood test it's been about 12 bur I remember when I was pregnant it went down to 10.
Does 163g/L get converted, is his number 16.3?
It says Above high reference limit

After reading further I'm assuming his reading is 16.3?

Each lab has their own reference guide, some it will be double digits, some triple. It would only be just over the normal range going by those numbers but I expect the GP would want to retest in 2-4 weeks.

It’s fine. It’s very very slightly over the average range - basically normal. It’s a good thing - he obviously has a healthy diet with plenty of iron.
You can’t compare different labs- they have different scales. It would be like comparing someone’s height that has been measured by one person in cm, another measured it in feet and inches and another in meters. The person is the same height but the numbers are very different.

He's vegan! May put my mum at peace considering all she goes on about is that he must be so deficient not eating meat! 😅

The only other thing is about 5 of his other tests are also slightly high? I don't even know what they are but all say above high reference limit?!

They haven't said they want to but I have sent an online request for them to give me a call so will ask.
