Shoes for hyper mobile toddler - advice pls

Hi all

My 2.5 year old was diagnosed with hyper mobility at 20months. The only advice given by the physio was to try and buy shoes with a higher back (more of a boot than trainer) but said there was no specific brand of shoes to be buying and no physio needed. He's been in Geox since walking, simply because at his first shoe fitting at a specialist children's shoe shop, this particular pair of geox shoes fit well. Since then I've visited a different children's shoe shop and they have advised geox are no good due to having a very firm sole and he needs more of a flexible rubberized sole.

Parents of hypermobile toddlers - have you been given the same advice and if so what brands of shoes have you bought?

I'm not sure what to trust - the physio or the children's shoe specialist?!

Thanks!

Hi op
Id have a look at start rite they are known for their hood footwear for infants and have more boot style trainers such as below!

Some styles only start as a children’s size 6 so unsure what size your son is!

Discover, Grey leather riptape pre-school ankle boot shoes

Thanks so much. He's a UK 5.5 so soon to be a 6 😀 I'm just confused by the guidance on having a more flexible sole... From the discussions with specialists I've had I thought the idea was to have more supportive shoes rather than flexible ones 🙄

I was under the belief that flexible soles were when learning to walk as an initial first shoe rather than a necessity going forward?
I feel sturdy makes sense and physio will have best advice in relation to hyper mobility.
shoe shop will be more general advice?

I’m in my 20s and have hypermobility, I always wore Clark’s shoes at that age. Long time ago now so was probably the only good option🤣

Have a look at Superfit. It’s a European brand, and I have found the quality far better than geox
