Baby crying blocked nose temperature help

7mth old baby will not settle for me tonight at all - has a temperature of 37.8 which does come down with medicine but her blocked nose is driving her mad. Is there anything I can do?

I can't get a snot sucker right now obviously but I will when shops open in the morning. In the meantime I've tried nurofen for babies alternating with Calpol and I have saline solution but it's just annoying her than doing anything.

Her teeth are driving her mad too which I don't know if it's a separate issue or linked! She's been up since 11pm and can't stay asleep cos of her blocked nose I think 🙈

Oh I'm sorry it's awful for both when they can't sleep. Where is she sleeping? Can you try propping the cot so she's on an angle and the snot can drain a bit?

Calpol plug in?

Have you got any vicks or olbas oil? Dehumidifier thing with eucalyptus essential oil?

Thank you - she's on her second night in her big cot in her nursery. I took her in to her crib beside our bed to see if it made a difference but we're back in the nursery now as she seems to like to stretch out and I'm on the sofa bed.

FTM here and I didn't know Calpol plug ins were a thing until a google about an hour ago 🙈 on my list to buy in the morning too! Only 5 hours to go til Boots opens 🥱🥴🥴🥴

I’ve been known to suck my baby’s nose with my mouth and spit. Gross I know, but you’ll do anything for your kids!

Oh no! Poor thing! Have you tried sitting with baby in the bathroom with a hot shower running so it gets steamy? When my children are blocked up I sit them in the steam filled bathroom and get a new wash cloth wet with warmer water and have them hold it up to their nose to breathe the steam in that comes off of that also. If you don't have a booger sucker than I'm unsure how to get the snot out that could loosen from steam.

Use the saline stuff, then suction out with the snot sucker.

Also try some Karvol. On a Muslin

This. Gross but effective.

when my 6 months old son has blocked nose and big snots I encourage him to turn on his tummy and play with him some rough games. This really helps him, he’s rolling, rubbing face against the surface, making a lot of effort to reach and grab things and the snots start coming out because of that.
