Hi everyone. So I've been to the GP now 7 times and A&E 5 times and still no further forward... Today I went and he got bloods and all came back normal...My son has had a rash all over (little red dots and also skin coloured ones on his arms, legs and fingers) for 5 weeks now! They don't bother him and he's not unwell but it's just not going away! I'm driving myself mad! It's not heatrash and not any of the common rash illnesses... I'm so confused and it's really getting me so stressed and scared. The doctor said sometimes viral rashes last this long but 5 weeks really? He's nearly 20 months... Just wanted to know if anyone else has been in this situation before so I don't feel so alone and useless. Thanks. Lucy xx

Hi Op, can you please post a pic of the rash? Have you been referred to a dermatologist?

MidnightOnceMore · 14/09/2023 20:08

Ok, deep breath.

I understand the worry, but what has led you to A&E five times? Does your child seem unwell in other ways? Have any doctors been worried?

It is good that the blood tests have come back normal.

I quickly googled and read viral rashes can last 'weeks'. So that's not completely ridiculous of the GP.

Has the doctor considered allergic reactions too? Or has that been ruled out?

Hi sorry I'm new to this so don't know how to tag anyone but he isn't unwell in himself no. He hasn't had a temperature or anything. The doctors don't seem worried but said if he gets any other symptoms to go back. I'm a very paranoid worrisome person and it's really scaring me. The first picture is the rash 4 weeks ago which they gave antibiotics for as suspected scarlet fever but had no fever or illness so gave just incase...it cleared about 80% and then started coming back but no where near as bad. The other photos are it now xx

The pictures are not very clear, but it looks like there is less rash now? Would you say it's improving?

Songbird74 · 14/09/2023 20:32

Bless you OP. What about trying lots of moisturiser, to nourish the skin as it looks like that viral rash may have dried his skin out. I would ask your GP for a referral to a dermatologist or seek a private appointment. Please rest assured, if the blood tests come back OK / normal and the doctors don’t seem worried, then I would imagine it would be nothing serious. It’s hard not to worry, I know x

Hi. Yes it's definitely improved since 3 weeks ago but he has one on his head and shoulder that look nasty. He's had dermal on for days and it's making the roughness go away a bit but not actually getting rid of it. I'm just scared there's something going on they're not picking up on considering how long he's had it xx

Difficult to see clearly from the photos but it could be pityriasis rosea . Often florid on the trunk area. As it fades it can leaves some (temporary) hypopigmentation.
