Strange blister/scab under 3yo armpit

Hi all, just noticed this strange blister under my daughters armpit, I think but I can’t be sure that it’s appeared in the last 48 hrs max. It felt scabbed over and didn’t seem to be causing any pain but when she got it wet in the bath it clearly stung. Any idea what it could be? She had her preschool jabs yesterday afternoon, could it be linked ? She also just started nursery so could be an infection of some sort? She has no other scabs or marks on her body .

That looks really nasty and infected. Could be impetigo, could be an infected bite or something else but definitely needs to be seen by a GP. I’d even call 111 and see if they recommend out of hours.

Thanks so much for your response, I was shocked when I saw it. I’ll take her to GP first thing in the morning. She seems well so I won’t ring 111 just yet. I wondered if impetigo could be just one sore like that

I also sprayed it with antiseptic wound spray before bed

My first thought was impetigo. I would get to the gp as soon as you can as if it is impetigo it is so infectious.

unlikely to be related to the jabs.

it was hot and she probably was quite sweaty the last few days. add in a weird sleeve and you have unpleasant shafing.

tbh I would clean well and dress with a hydrocolloid (blister) plaster to stop further shafing.

I get something like that when I'm allergic to some washing detergents, but it's usually under both arms.

Tbh I'd get that looked at.

Oh god I hope not… I had it in primary school and just remember it been horrible, also don’t want us all to get it. First week at nursery would be typical though 🤦‍♀️

She’s happily got into pjs and I’m satisfied it’s clean, so hopefully doesn’t cause any trouble tonight or I’ll put one of those wound plasters on. I’ll call GP first thing

Make sure when you speak to GP receptionist that you lay it on pretty thick and insist on being seen. Emphasise her young age and how infected it looks etc and how suddenly it’s come on. At our GP surgery if you’re not careful they try to palm you off with saying go to the pharmacists but then they never have anyone available to see you and they send you to the GP for anything relating to kids anyway. Hope she’s ok!
