Help - what should I do - scarlet fever

So I’ve just had a positive Strep A home test after having a sore throat for a few days. My daughter now has a rash on her tummy like scarlet fever. Not unwell in herself. I have an online app with a nurse for me at 8 this morning: is my daughter’s rash urgent enough to ask for a GP app today? Go to a pharmacy? Can they prescribe?thanks - I’m panicking a bit.

Scarlet fever is very contagious and dangerous to pregnant women, but not so much to anyone else. You may need antibiotics for your dd, but please don't bring her anywhere.

My DD had antibiotics and was told not to mix until 24 hours after day one of antibiotics.

She needs antibiotics- call GP who can prescribe
based on strep A + test result.
don’t panic - she’ll be
fine with the antibiotics. My DD has had it 3 times, all times she’s been much better within 48 hours of starting Pen V. X

Sorry I read too fast- thought it was her who had + swab.

hmmmmm you’ll need to swab her first I imagine. If no sore throat and no fever etc I’d be surprised if
she has strep A. It makes you feel pretty poorly.

Thanks so much for your advice. I’ve got antibiotics and her rash is fading so I think she had a heat rash, not scarlet fever. Thanks again x

I didn’t realise you could get scarlet fever anymore

Do you never watch the news? There was a huge scarlet fever outbreak last year.

OP was the rash rough, like sandpaper? That's the clue to a scarlet fever rash. It can get better v quickly though so the fact that it is faded doesn't mean it wasn't scarlet fever. Dd was back to normal in 24 hrs
