Antibiotics prescribed for suspected infection which turns out to be Onychomadesis

Hi mums,

I thought my 17month old had an infected nail, I took her to the doctor and she was prescribed antibiotics.

The first type of antibiotics were so foul tasting that she vomited each time I tried to administer them, so we called back the GP who prescribed a different sort (stronger and smaller dose required less often).

Fast forward 3days and I've noticed the "infection" is spreading to other nails...

A quick google for infections which look like nails are peeling and hey presto! it's apparently not an infection at all.

My daughter had HFM early July and now I believe she has Onychomadesis.

So, now I'm panicking because we've been forcing and half succeeding to get these blasted antibiotics in her!

We're 3 days into a 5 day course.

Should I continue with them despite no infection?? OR stop because they could do more harm than good if there is no infection to fight??

Thanks all!
