Potential insulin issues?

Dc has been having repeated shaky, hungry episodes recently just a couple hours after mealtimes. To rule out blood sugar issue while awaiting dr appointment we used a finger prick monitor to check and the readings are between 2.7 and 3.9 during these episodes. We thought to check randomly at other times and it’s between 8 and 10.4. The only other change is a massive increase in drinking, all day long. Turns out it’s not high enough to be of any concern to dr so we’ve just to monitor for any further changes. Does this sound like the start of insulin issues or just a glitch that’ll rectify itself? Worried but also hugely relieved meantime that it’s not a medical concern.

Why are you checking your non diabetic child’s sugar levels?
obviously sugar levels increase after eating.

You need to make sure he eats carbs to keep his levels steady and not rely on sugary drinks and snacks.

I get why you are worried but he needs proper medical advice.

If you have a testing kit I assume you have diabetes in the family? Other conditions cause low blood sugar. He needs a blood test.

Plenty carbs in diet, rarely eats sugary snacks and only drinks water. The lows are worrying, especially when clearly, and correctly, rising with food and that they’ve never had this issue before.

Wondered if anyone had experienced similar or had any insight.

Hoping it’s temporary.

Thank you for your kind reply, appreciated.

Is he having enough protein to even out the carbs?

I suffered with low blood sugar, turned out to be caused by Coeliac disease.
