Im new here first post and not sure how this really works. I am also in Ireland (Republic) so can't ring 111. I have contacted our out of hours but waiting for the call back "within the next 4 hours"

My daughter is just 13 and over the last week with stress hasn't been going to the toilet as much. It's been 4 days since she last had a poo and tonight she is crying with pain saying she feels the need to go but can't. I have given her a child suppositories but that seems to have made the cramps worse and has made her poo very little. she is normally not constipated but we have had a very stressful week. my father in law (her granddad) died Monday.

Is there home treatments we can do for the moment until we get something from the doctor? I have given her paracetamol and a hot water bottle to help im running out of ideas. I didnt even know this website was a thing but i hope it can help

This is the complete opposite to the fruit and veg suggestions most people recommend for constipation but you could try a high fat meal like fish and chips or a McDonald's. I realise she may well not feel very hungry but that might clear the blockage fast.

her constipation has stated to ease but her poo is still hard and painful to pass

Tell the pharmacy the movicol is for you it’s perfectly safe for under 14s
look at the Eric website for advice on managing constipation

Is she having loads of water/fluids?

DulcoEase might help to soften stuff up, they're suitable from 12+.

I’m really struggling with my daughter and suppositories. She can’t seem to keep them in for more than 10 minutes. I have tired keeping her on her side, going for a walk around the house, sitting on the floor, chair or on the loo. Nothing helps. It maybe TMI but she then only poos out the tablet and very little poo. Anyone got advice

Maybe ask the GP for an enema. I found that worked better for my daughter in addition to oral laxatives

I would give her Movicol/Laxido 1 or 2 adult sachets a day and give her senokot as well. You can get senokot tablets or liquid and it usually works in 8-12 hours.
I’d keep her on 1 sachet of Movicol a day for weeks as well and then go to one every other day then every 3rd day so it doesn’t happen again.
