Saw this on one kid today.

Do i need to treat?

Looks more like dandruff. Take a photo of their scalp behind the ears.

It looks like eggs, you need to get a nit comb and comb the hair religiously.

They look like eggs that have have hatched.

Superdrug had their own brand on offer for 3.99 a bottle a month or so ago. It works fine. Get a Nitty Gritty comb as it will get more if the horrors out. I’d wash and comb through with conditioner with the nitty gritty in the AM. Then dry. Do the Superdrug overnight. Then wash bedding/towels etc. Then repeat in a week. But I’d comb every day with nitty gritty in between.

If you are abroad it could be harder. Olive oil works. Put all over hair and wrap in cling film! Leave overnight. It works but takes overnight to murder them. I conducted an experiment with lice in olive oil. They appear dead but resurrect if you remove from oil after 40 mins. Leave for several hours and they die! 🥳

That looks like the eggs.
My daughter has had them twice and the nit comb doesn't get rid of all of them. I found taking them out with my nails did the trick, they're very sticky!

The other day I was trying to work out whether ds has head lice or dandruff so I googled loads of photos of both. Unfortunately yours definitely looks like headlice and if I was you I would treat.

They look like hatched lice eggs. They normally lay close to the scalp (less than 1cm) but stick to the hair as it grows out so may have been there a while. What I was told is if you can brush it off the hair with your hand it's dandruff, if you can't brush it off it's probably eggs.

If there's only a few eggs and they're all quite far from the scalp it's possibly not an active infestation but check thoroughly with conditioner and a nit comb.

They gather round the ears and on the back of the neck along the hairline. Check there.

Are the white dots quite tricky to remove? The eggs are stuck to tge hair so don't come away easily.

They are quite a way down the hair so, if it is headlice, I'm afraid they've been there a while.

Check the back of the neck and around the ears. That's where they gather.

Listerine poured onto the hair kills them if you can't get the official stuff.

I swear by nit not and nitwit. Hedrin and full marks didn’t clear them all and the bastards hatched. I was more in tune with the life cycle of a nut than I was with anything else!! Make sure you treat after another seven days. I love my kitty gritty and use it every time I wash my daughters hair and comb her hair with cheap coconut conditioner. I’m dreading starting school again when they’ll return! I can’t understand why they didn’t die off with covid!!!

What a pain! Glad you got Lyclear- I was just going to suggest it- I tried every other treatment know to man when DS and I had them and the bastards always came back. I have thick long hair and in the end I lathered my hair in Lyclear and wore a shower cap all day (about 8 hrs WFH at my laptop) before rinsing the lot away- good comb through and never had them since. DS thankfully has left school now so had a few years without them in the house.

Ah bummer least you got some lotion. Comb every second day with conditioner for2 weeks make sure they all go.

Definitely early stage of egg laying. Follow instructions with nit comb, get them to lay with head in lap, shampoo with treatment, comb out, warning it can take hours so put film on and use your finger nails, check a few times a day over next week.

If i have missed any with the comb, will the shampoo have killed them?

It’s best to assume not. You need to comb and comb and comb. I’d do it daily until you no longer get anything on the comb.

Sometimes the eggs have not hatched will that's why you still need to keep up with nit combing. I know it's gross and you will probably have the heebie geebjes thinking about it but you will get rid of them .

No, shampoo won't kill then, conditioner can smother them but you need an awful lot.
Combing is the best chance, just keep going with it.

You need to destroy the life cycle of the lice. Don't bother with any insecticides. Buy the cheapest conditioner you can (it makes the hair slippery, you don't want a nice conditioner that soaks in). Then nit comb at least every other night for two weeks. Every night in the bath is best if you've got time..

You're aiming to remove the big grown up live lice, break the legs of the teenage lice and make the hair too slippery for them to get enough grip to lay an egg, and remove the latest eggs before they hatch. The life cycle is two weeks. Good luck! You can do it!

To be clear, put shed loads of cheap conditioner on and comb through while it's on.

The nitty gritty comb and gallons of cheap conditioner was the best thing that I used to get rid of nits and lice. I combed through my daughters hair with a normal nit comb and it came out clear then I used the nitty gritty and dozens of eggs came out (shudder). That’s old hatched eggs in the picture, unhatched eggs are really hard to spot. As someone said above they like the hairline to lay the eggs especially the neck and ears areas. Best of luck. Wish I was there to kill them for you. It’s so satisfying to kill the blighters.
