2yo with broken arm

2yo has broken his arm. Hospital were fab, he has a cast on up to half way up his upper arm. He is furious. Won't stop screaming to get it off. Waving it around hitting me and himself with it. Still breastfed and refusing a boob which is his usual comfort. Refusing to watch his fav programme. Just screaming that he wants it off.

Any tips? He's had both ibuprofen and paracetamol so not sure it's pain, more just rage at this thing on his arm that he doesn't want to be there. He missed his nap today so is shattered. Hoping he'll cry himself out soon. Or stop, which would obviously be better.

Oh no poor boy and poor you Sad

Have you been verbalising that you understand it is scary and annoying having it on - but his arm will get better?

Could you show him videos/pics of other young children with casts on?

There’s a Bing episode where he breaks his arm and has a cast. Might help him understand?

Hope he settles soon. I imagine mine would be the same - hates restriction more than anything else.

Bloody Bing 😂

He's calmed finally. A booby helped and I'm letting him eat a cold soggy McDonald's in my bed which seems to be helping. Poor wee man. Will try the Bing episode before bed.

  1. He's 2.
  1. Why on earth do you think that another woman's breasts are any of your business?

What a ridiculous comment.

Your child is super lucky to have breastfeeding as a option still even more so now with toe injury. Hope it's a straightforward recovery

Our DD broke her arm at that age. One thing we did was keep going with an active lifestyle as much as possible/was sensible. She still came swimming with a protective sleeve over her cast, went to the beach on holiday, went out for walks and to play. So she was still physically tired out? Maybe that would help distract him
too?

Lol thank you random person for your invaluable comment.

Not that I need to explain myself, but he's 2 not 3 and he's breastfed because he loves it, I love it, and it is recommended far beyond 2. Feel free to educate yourself before making inane comments.

Even if he was 3 and still breastfed, what does that have to do with you? It's totally within biological norms to still bf at 3.

Did you mean to be so rude?
