My babies front incisor is coming through yellow!

My daughter is 8 months old and has her first teeth coming through. Before the top ones started coming through she slipped and banged her gum and it bled a little bit. (Trust me i cried more than her) she already has her bottom two and a fang. now a month later one of her new front teeth is starting to come through and it looks yellower than the others. I am so worried that its a dead tooth and will end up turning black once it has fully emerged. Is it possible it's just yellow or is it the banging of it making it that way? I wasn't sure if i could increase her calcium intake to try and avoid it changing more? I'd hate for her to be bullied for having a dead tooth or something cause kids can be nasty about those things 💔 she is too young for the dentist as she only has little teeth at the moment. Has anyone else had this problem at all or any advice on what I can do about it?
TIA xxxx

She’s not to young for a dentist. Take her to one and they can have a look and see what’s happening.

Ifulikepinacoladas · 02/08/2023 18:11

Take her to a dentist. Children should go regularly from an early age, so would obviously still have baby teeth.

Flipflopflopflip · 02/08/2023 18:21

Take her to the dentist but I'm afraid it may turn black. Very similar happened to my sister, the tooth ended up a greyish colour, adult tooth grew through fine though.

Mine were all registered at the dentist as babies. Dentist looked at their teeth on my lap until they could sit in the chair alone. He said they need to get used to the dentist from being babies.

I hope her tooth is okay OP.

That can happen if your child was given antibiotics at the time the enamel was forming.

JenniferBarkley · 02/08/2023 18:43

Definitely see the dentist - a friend's son has problems with his enamel and the closely monitor him and have done coatings etc.

ididntthough · 02/08/2023 18:45

Depends exactly how yellow it is as adult teeth aren’t generally the same shade as milk teeth so it can look quite a contrast at first

ididntthough · 02/08/2023 18:45

Agree on getting a check though!

TwitTwont · 02/08/2023 18:52

Not too young. NHS advice is:

Take your child to the dentist when their first milk teeth appear. This is so they become familiar with the environment and get to know the dentist

OhcantthInkofaname · 02/08/2023 19:24

Did you take any antibiotics during pregnancy? It's common for tetracycline based antibiotics to cause discoloration in forming teeth. Dentist time!

Karik95 · 02/08/2023 19:43

It's not super yellow but just a different colour to the other milky whites! It has only really shown itself today but I'm going to call around the dentists tomorrow to see if I can get her in somewhere asap. Other people have said they can see a dentist soon as the have stumps so that's probably the best thing to be done 🙂

No antibiotics/medicine involved, she fell with her mouth open💔

OP I really doubt this is at all related to the fall. Babies learning to toddle fall over all the time.

Karik95 · 02/08/2023 19:48

It did bleed when she fell so thats why im a little worried. She only cried for about a minute due to shock so nothing too painful at the time. No problems with her gums at all and still a very happy baby. I really hope you're right and she is ok 🤞

i Killed the nerve in my front tooth. It went dark grey.

incidentally my milk teeth where all white but my big teeth both incisors were dark yellow / brown. I had veneers when I was about 13

Karik95 · 02/08/2023 19:52

How old were you? She is only 8 months old so she is only just getting her milk teeth now. Hopefully her adult teeth will be ok 🤞

Ds bumped his gums on a chair when he was little. I panicked when the first of his top teeth came through and it looked darker and yellowish. However once it was fully out of his gum it’s the same white as the rest, it just looked discoloured when it was breaking through the gum.

Karik95 · 02/08/2023 19:53

They have only just been coming into the world, non are fully grown yet. I will be calling around tomorrow for sure 👌

My friend had similar and was told it was due to her mother having antibiotics when pregnant with her. Her adult teeth weren't as yellow, but had a yellow ridge across them. See what the dentist says though.

Karik95 · 02/08/2023 20:19

This is really reassuring as i dont know what to expect just yet so thank you for the hopes 🙏

It was an adult tooth I ‘killed’ think I was around 12.
