Strep A/ Scarlet fever for 3rd time in 3 months - worried, need handhold

As title says ☹️
DD7 woke up with raging temp and horrible red throat with strawberry tongue again. She only finished last course of antibiotics for strep A / scarlet fever 3 weeks ago ☹️
she also had it the month before that, so I feel like she’s getting 2 -3 weeks between it coming back.
does anyone have any experience of this? I’m worried about why
shes getting it so often ☹️
last time we went with it (last month) GP said if she gets it 3 more times before end of the year he’d refer for tonsillectomy but I didn’t expect it to happen again so soon.
off to get an out of hours appt but I just feel scared☹️

No advice but a hug from me. Hope your DD feels better soon x

My daughter was like this, she got Scarlet fever aged 2.5 and then had recurrent tonsilitis for a year after, we had a standby prescription from the GP because she would seem to get it on a weekend. She had them out at 3.5. Made a huge difference and I don't think she's had antibiotics since then (now 13)

I guess I'd ask them, though I am in now way a professional if the course of antibiotics is long enough and whether its a new infection or whether it's not being cleared and is coming back.

Thank you all. Waiting to see Dr now.
i guess I’m worried it’s an underlying immune system issue but hope I’m just over worrying there.

This is so good to hear (though I’m sorry your daughter had it so often) it sort of feels like it’s just my dd who has it so often so it’s nice to know it’s not and that your daughter got much better after having them out, thank you 😊

Yes that’s one of my worries, that the infection just isn’t clearing as she has on both occasions had 10 day courses and then seemed much better but then 2 weeks later it comes back so something feels not right ☹️

Has she been swabbed each time.

My dds friend had it 3 times in 4 months they gave them antibiotics for longer on the 3rd occasion and it never came back, this was last year.

Really? That’s reassuring to hear though I’m sorry she had it so often too.
no not swabbed- each time diagnosis has been made on strawberry tongue, white spots on tonsils+ petichaie on mouth palate, fever + in may the classic strawberry tongue

Update: saw prescribing nurse who said definitely tonsillitis and has swabbed for
strep A. Results back Monday and if confirmed she’s to take another 10 day course of the same antibiotics as last time and see the GP to ask about an ENT referral as it’s definitely a “tonsil problem”
