X ray increased risk cancer

Hi, my 3 year old had a pelvis xray today, she has an unusual gait and hip dysplasia in the family so doctor suggested xray even though she seemed fine on examination. He told me the xray dose was equivalent to a long haul aeroplane trip, however I've made the mistake of looking into it and actually there is an increased risk of childhood and adult cancer, and long term impact to reproductive organs, I'm so angry at myself for putting her at this additional risk and that I wasn't informed of this. Especially as the doctor said it was just for my peace of mind. My mum is currently battling stage 4 cancer and have cancer history in family so am familiar with devastation of this disease. Any radiologists on here who can comment on the increased risk please?

Oh @MumToBe1980 I’m really sorry to hear how you are feeling. I would definitely ask / re-ask your GP for medication / therapy to help
manage your anxiety. I know 100% how it feels to spiral because of worry for your children. Please be assured that top clinical doctors have said the radiation is minute and it is for the benefit of determining a correct diagnosis for your DC. If there was a massive risk from the radiation that outweighed the benefit of having the x ray then they would not have advised it.

I hope you’re ok and your GP can help with the anxiety / signpost you to services that can support you x

Breast cancer in the general populatiuon is 2.3%, it does increase in flight attendants to 3.4%.

That's women flying long hall multiple times a month, and as well as radiation, they are affected by the hours they work / sleep.

Depending on where they fly too and from they may be exposed to more radiation and other carcinogens.

I doubt anyone gets cancer from a single X-ray.
