3yo 24 hour vomiting every time he gets a cold

I've posted about this before but it's still happening over a year later - my nearly 4 yo vomits for 24-48 hours every time he gets any kind of virus (runny nose, cough etc). It's been going on since he was 18 months old. It's always the same, starts as a sniffle and then a night or two of coughing, then every single time he spends two days in bed unable to keep anything down and too weak to get up.

It's definitely not just from swallowing snot or coughing too much, it's proper vomiting. No one else in the house gets ill, I'm sure it's not a gastro thing.

It's just awful because obviously he's spent the last 3 years catching lots of colds, but unlike other toddlers who can deal with it as a runny nose and cough, it wipes him out for days. I'd say he gets this every 6-8 weeks, even more during the winter (I know that's a normal amount of viruses for an under 5). Spoken to the GP a few times who said it can just be normal for some kids, but I'm just desperate to do something to help him! He's a tiny little thing and I'm sure it's affecting his growth that he's throwing up for days every few months.

Has anyone else's kids have this? No one I know has. Did they grow out of it/did you find some kind of solution? Thanks.

Sorry to hear about this- it sounds tough for you all!

Are doctors/health visitors worried?

If not:
A regular few days not eating sounds worrying for you but not dangerous for him. He will probably eat a teeny tiny bit more on well days - even if this is not noticeable.

The human body is made to be great at catching up on interruptions to the food supply.

Thank you @LiesDoNotBecomeUs ! No, they are not worried about him. He's had blood tests and isn't deficient in anything, and is just about tracking his growth curve (between 2nd-9th). It's so frustrating because he gets on a really good track with his eating and then another vomiting episode sets him back again. I just can't wait for the day that he gets a runny nose and it doesn't turn into a 2 day vomiting ordeal!
