Sorry won't let me upload a picture! It's a dark red rash, very smooth and sort of dotty looking it's about 6/7cm long and about 3 across. Literally just appeared this evening out of nowhere

@treatsforfeathers thank you for replying! It won't let me upload a picture how annoying. It doesn't disappear under a glass, not itchy or anything xx

Where is it @Bluegoose2
My son had something similar on his arm and Dr wasn't worried thought maybe bites or nettles if playing outside or friction type thing.. It faded over the course of a day and disappeared after a few days

Smurf123 · 12/07/2023 21:23

Photo wouldn't upload on app for some reason.. It wasnt raised at all just dark red dots

What could this rash be? Help please!
Bluegoose2 · 12/07/2023 21:27

@Smurf123 his is on his arm in the elbow crease! Though it's a lot darker and more pronounced than that almost like a dark bruise but it's red and dotty and an oval shape. It's as if he's sucked on it really hard if that makes sense? But he hasn't as I've been with him! I'm just more perplexed how it's appeared apparently within minutes. He's completely fine in himself, messing around in his room, keeping me awake as usual, singing dancing etc! X

Is it petechiae ?

Smurf123 · 12/07/2023 21:33

That was my sons arm last week and the gp we say said that if it was the illness we all think of when we think non blanching rash ds wouldn't be jumping about laughing and chatting.
But back in December when ds had a single (and a very faint possible second) non blanching spot a different gp in the practice sent us straight to A&E - (we were at the gp for ds sister at the time but I'd noticed the spot that morning) but mind you A&E also said that they wouldn't even do bloods for a presenting well child with a single non blanching spot 🤷‍♀️

Bluegoose2 · 12/07/2023 21:42

Thank you everyone for your replies! I think I will call the doctor first thing but keep an eye on him over night! @DustyLee123 it's like petechiae but it's so dark and close together it looks like a red bruise x

I would give 111 a call and they can advise what's best to do. My sister had meningitis and a purpley red rash appeared very quickly, how ever she was very poorly.

DustyLee123 · 12/07/2023 21:30

Is it petechiae ?

That was my thoughts too.

Bluegoose2 · 12/07/2023 21:55

@3plusUs sorry to hear about your sister i hope she made a speedy recovery? I will give 111 a call and see what they say. I just keep going over worse case scenarios now which isn't helping!

@Gladtoblasto it looks like it close up but they are so close together and dark it looks like a bruise x

She did thank you.
I'm the same I'm terrible when my kids are ill.
Hopefully calling 111 will give you some reassuring so your not worrying all night.

3plusUs · 13/07/2023 19:27

How's your little boy today?

Bluegoose2 · 14/07/2023 21:52

@3plusUs he's fine thank you so much! It had faded alot over the next day and he was completely fine in himself and its almost completely gone. I work in a hospital and asked some opinions and most agreed it looked like it had been pinched or squeezed or something similar but they all said if no temp and still eating weeing etc then to just keep an eye. He's been fine in school aswell! Just usual end of term grumpiness now, bring on next week 😴 x
