Is this Scarlet Fever?

DC was sent home from nursery last week with vomiting and high temperature. 3 tough days and everything was okay. This weekend, we've had a temperature, lots of whinging and saying they're feeling cold and now the rash- what can it be? They've also complained about an earache (history of glue ear and awaiting surgery for grommets).

Will be calling the Gp first thing.

I’m afraid this looks exactly like the scarlet fever rash, we’ve had it 3 times so I know it well and the symptoms you’re describing would fit strep A then turning into scarlet fever now. How is their tongue looking?

Thank you- yes I've had it confirmed as Scarlett Fever- DCs tongue was looking okay last night but this morning looks like a carbon copy of the surface of a strawberry. They've now also gone off all foods :( doctor has prescribed a 10 day course of antibiotics.

I'm now worried my youngest will also get it :(

I'm also incredibly grateful it's a blanching rash and nothing too serious.

If any help my DD has had it 3 times over the last year and 48 hours on the antibiotics and they will feel so much better. Glad you’re on the proper dose for
it 👍not impossible your little one might escape it as my one has it just now and her big brother has escaped it.

Thank you @wobblymum1 for the reassurance :) little one suffers from chronic wheezes and requires hospital visits. I couldn't cope with them both down with this :( DC has been a bit miserable today because of the rash itching. Wondering if they'll be well enough to go to nursery tomorrow? It's their last week and I don't want them to miss out on all the lovely things planned for them. The temperature has now gone and they're two antibiotic doses down.

I’d say if the temp is down you’re good to send them as you’re 48 hours into the magic antibiotics 👍just lots of early nights this week as they will be tired
from it, but no reason they can’t go in I’d say 😊I highly recommend a
dose of piriton to help ease the horrid itching, it worked wonders every time with my DD. Hope your other little
one escapes it 💞X
