Does this nappy look normal to you?
Baby is almost 6 weeks. Combi fed (1 bottle of c&g a day, sometimes some expressed breast milk but not often).

Is your baby happy, alert and thriving?

A doc told me if they are, then don't worry about the nappy - my child's was like green scrambled egg, for weeks! But I took his advice and never worried about it again. It's a good yardstick for when we drive ourselves mad worrying about things!

(I had a sample in a bag to show him but it didn't leave the nappy bag!)

Yes, very normal looking nappy

Tiredmummaoftwo · 02/07/2023 13:43

Very very normal

Jitterybugs · 02/07/2023 13:49

Looks just like the korma like poos my breast fed children and grandchildren did for the first few months. Often arriving with a warning rumble and seeping to the shoulder blades 😀

I was only told to worry if nappies were white / grey or black / bright red; these would indicate liver issues (pale stools) or bleeding of the bowel (internal blood loss). All other colours, especially in little ones, is normal

canonlyhopexo · 02/07/2023 22:02

@Jitterybugs 😂 I've gone through more stain remover in the last 5 weeks than I have in the last 29 year.

Thanks all. There have been some mucus streaks and not sure if that's normal or could indicate an allergy.

You're so welcome.

I was told that mucus in the nappy was normal and nothing to worry about in the case of my son 15 years ago. If that’s any help 😊

Tiredmummaoftwo · 03/07/2023 22:01

My DS has CMPA. The entire nappy would be mucus and a spinach green colour. It was also accompanied by very bad nappy rash, and other symptoms such as eczema, diarrhoea, very unsettled, uncomfortable and bloated tummy etc etc.

I wouldn't worry too much if your baby is happy in themselves and their poo looks like that x

canonlyhopexo · 04/07/2023 19:56

Thanks @ColonelPine I think some mucus can be normal yes especially in bf babies as it's something to do with it quickly digesting through their systems. Never had it with my first son who was formula fed and had severe constipation lol!

@Tiredmummaoftwo love the username I am also one of those 🤣 thank you. It's never been the entire nappy that is mucus just streaks. One nappy today had a tiny poo that was solely mucus with a green streak but there doesn't seem to be any other symptoms. He can be quite sickly but my first son was too. He settles after feeds and during the night is ok so I wouldn't say there's any obvious signs he's uncomfortable etc. maybe I'm just panicking x x

Normal! GP and HV said if it's vibrant and any colour except pale, grey, black or red it's fine! Also if baby is happy then you're all good 👍🏻

One day my DS had lime green poo (and some over green variations) with mucus and I was freaking out, but they said it was fine as it was vibrant. If you ever get that they told me to try BF a little longer on both sides before swapping to ensure baby got all hindmilk and it fixed it within a couple weeks.
