What is this on daughter’s gum? Dentists please help!

DD (7) had a little white dot on the back of her top gum for a few weeks (she thinks she knocked it with a party blower). She came upstairs tonight and said it felt all squishy. I had a look and it has changed from a little white dot to this protruding red, soft squishy lump. She said it only hurts around the edge of the lump and if she presses it.

is this likely a cyst / eruption cyst? She’s never had mouth issues before and is very good at keeping her gums and teeth clean. I thought (when it was a white dot) it may have been a new tooth growing in. She saw the dentist a few months ago (before the white spot appeared) and there was no concerns then.

any advice is greatly appreciated!

Not a dentist, but could it be her 6 year molars erupting? My daughter (6) has the same going on

I think it's a tooth coming in. I'm not a dentist

Should add that the 6 year molars do not replace any baby teeth. Looks to be in the right place as well

@BridgetJonesDaiquiri thank you - I thought it may have been that but I don’t think she’s had this before. I’ve counted DS’s teeth and he has one more either side than DD (he’s 2 years older) so it could be that. I think it looks swollen too, but she’s not jn pain unless she presses it.

It's likely a tooth but it looks very much like a dead saliva gland. It happens from a trauma to the area. I had one in my lip as a kid, they kind of have a core but if you agitate them they swell and blister (that's what it looks like). I had to get mine cut out. No idea if you have a saliva gland in your gum though!
