Itchy rash but only on knees and elbows?

DD aged 12 has developed an intensely itchy rash on the outside of her elbows and on her knees. We've tried various creams with no joy although aqueous gel does soothe the itching somewhat. Dr insists it's a seasonal grass rash, although this has been going on since March and anti histamine has made no difference.

The spots are raised and look a bit like small blisters although then she scratches and they just look angry.

I'll try to attach a pic, althoughitshit very good as it doesn't show up well. I'd be grateful of any suggestions!

Did y’all ever figure out what it was, I have had same thing going on for about a month and I’m 38 yo

This looks like psoriasis to me. But I stress that I speak from ignorance, and I'm not even sure if a young child can have psoriasis. All I can say is that rash looks like mine when my psoriasis flares up.

It looks exactly like the excema I used to get as a child and teenager. Knees and elbows are a common place to get it. Your daughter will need a doctors appointment and possibly steroid cream to clear it up. I get Betnovate on prescription even now for occasional flare ups and it works brilliantly. If her doctor can’t see it could be excema, you need to see another doctor.

Excema is often bought on by allergies (I’m allergic to cats) or stress.

Hi, this looks like pompholyx eczema, which I also get. It's more linked to auto immune activity than allergy, which maybe why antihistamines haven't helped. It produces small intensely itchy blisters which can appear on fingers, toes, elbows and knees. I tend to get it when stressed, I have a hormonal shift (pregnancy, periods) or when the weather changes dramatically.

Hopefully the doctor has referred you on somewhere and you've had a diagnosis by now. Best to get it checked out, in case it is psoriasis or symptomatic of something more. My understanding it rarely is anything more.

With pompholyx, unfortunately, there isn't much you can do to treat it, just ride it out.

It is quite common but for some reason a lot of doctors haven't heard of it and will refer you to a dermatologist for answers (as happened to me and to the writer/former Dr Adam Kay, who writes about it in one of his books).

Oh I get that too, @Lindscrow but didn't know what it was. Only ever on my fingers, tiny, hard blisters that are quite good fun to pop with your teeth itchy. I always assumed it was some sort of dermatitis.

I think I'm getting rheumetoid arthritis and have an underactive thyroid, both of which are autoimmune I think.

It's psoriasis. I get it on my elbows exactly like that x

I had this and the GP treated it as eczema for months before I took a test for Coeliac disease. It turns out it is a fairly unusual symptom of Coeliac disease. Once I went gluten free the rash cleared up.

Hello! Did you every get to the bottom of this, OP? My 10 year old has a very similar thing.
