Rapidly deteriorating eyesight and Miyostart?

Hi all, my 5 year old daughter has had an eye test this morning and her eyesight has changed from -0.25 to -2.50 in both eyes in the last 6 months. The opitician said this is a rapid deterioration which will continue to get worse and has strongly recommended she has Miyostart glasses to try and slow down the progression. He did say it may not work but is worth a try. I'm concerned about the cost as they are £50 a month and we are already struggling.

Does anyone has any experiences with this please? Thanks

I am a dispensing manager in an opticians and my 9 year old wears them and has done for the last year his prescription is -4.50 since he started wearing them he has had no change in his prescription which is great. I did a lot of research into them and they really do seem to work. We get them from an independent opticians ( not the one I work at as it's too far from where I live) and I pay £29 a month I know also that Specsavers have just started doing them for I think a similar price. So I would definitely shop around £50 seems very expensive!

Just wondering how you are both finding them lenses 6 months on?

Really well still. My son had an eye test in December and still no change in his prescription. We bought a new set of lenses as they were very scratched but other than that I'm really pleased with them

That’s great news! So pleased for your son.

My DC has them too and the prescription hasn’t changed at all over the last year, so we think it’s working. The optician did say their eyes can deteriorate at any time and it might stop working, but for now it’s doing the trick. We are in for the long haul, optician said dc would need to wear them til 16

My son has started them at 16. With all the close work revising, I think he’ll be in them until 20s.

How old is your DS? How much myopia does he have? I wonder sometimes if it would have made a difference to start them at pano in the hope of avoiding the start of it?

Like panIc71 my DS has started them at 16 and we were told he may benefit even up to 20 years . His prescription is 5.5

Mumof3cherubs, did his prescription change once he started wearing them?
