Hi just yesterday when changing baby I noticed this mark on babies back automatically my mind went to meningitis so I made a emergency appointment and took her straight to the GP and 2 doctors looked at it and called through to a paediatrician and explained that it was not blanching but baby was absolutely fine in herself so the paediatrician said it probably a birthmark and to keep a eye on baby if she starts showing signs of temperature or being ill to seek medical help. Anyway this morning I took a picture of the mark again to compare to yesterdays and it looks a little darker ? Baby is still absolutely fine in herself no temp and feeding really well, I’m not sure if to call again to the doctors to mention the mark looks more darker today or am I being paranoid? Sorry for the long post

I wouldn't worry about it looking darker, but maybe draw round it to see if it gets bigger.

Obvs keep an eye on it, but as an extremely relaxed parent, I wouldn't have been at all worried about that. Looks like a sweat rash/dermatitis kind of thing. Is it at the top of the nappy?

Looks like it could be a pressure bruise, which are also non balancing. My DD (now almost 6) gets them from almost anything eg a car set strap or coughing too hard. If it starts to fade tomorrow it's probably just that.

The rash with meningitis is usually at a late stage when it gets in to the blood so the child would be very unwell by the time the rash appears - hence lots of awareness around other earlier signs. Def good you got it checked out though

Funny anough you say that just before I noticed it she projectile vomited her bottle up due to not burping? Do you think something like that could cause it ?

It’s just under her shoulder blade and non blanching this is what is worrying me I wish I could be more relaxed lol but she’s perfectly well in herself so mayby just watch and wait
