Any tips for nappy rash?

DD is 18 months and is really suffering with nappy rash at the moment. It's only covering a small area but there are a couple of patches that have been really sore for a few days, even to the point of bleeding 😞 We are slathering her with sudocrem at every opportunity but it doesn't seem to be getting any better and obviously every time we wipe her it irritates it. Any tips? Would going up a size in nappies help?

Try bephantham (spelt incorrectly!).

I have the children. Sometimes sudocream worked, others not at all and the above did

Yellow metanium
Nappy off as much as possible

Is she teething?

Swingoutsistersledge2 · 05/06/2023 23:42

Metanium nappy rash cream .

Thank you. I think she probably is teething, she usually is (had no teeth at all till 13 months and now seems to get a new one every couple of days!) She's also a bit under the weather generally atm, not sure if that makes it worse

Another one saying use the yellow metanium. It's amazing stuff but doesn't wash off so be careful putting it on & wiping the residue off your hands.

Mistressofnone · 05/06/2023 23:47

Another vote for thin layer of metanium. Miracle cure!

Bepanthen.
Even though Dc are grown I still buy it. It’s great for slathering on your nose when you have a cold to stop it getting sore from constantly blowing it. Great on chapped hands from the cold, offers a great barrier/protection & is very moisturising.

If its at a point of bleeding then cream off doctor is needed.

IneedcoffeeinanIV · 05/06/2023 23:53

My DD had exactly the same recently. Metanium worked a treat

Hoppingmad231 · 05/06/2023 23:55

And with nappy cream less is more, I see it often people putting loads of cream on there is no need it ends up sitting on the nappy meaning nappy can't absorb the urine properly makes nappy rash worse.

Milkand2sugarsplease · 05/06/2023 23:59

DS's consultant said to me at the time "metanium to get rid of nappy rash, Bepanthan to keep it at bay (if baby is prone) and Sudocrem never" and I've always stood by that advice through both children.

Also, coconut oil is great on NR too.

Sunnydayz · 06/06/2023 00:00

I use coconut oil

make sure babies skin is dry before applying cream and next nappy

I would also see a GP or try hydrocortisone over the counter, a small amount rubbed in really well twice a day might well get rid of it. It’s the only thing that worked for my youngest.
