6m diarrhoea / frequent dirty nappies. Not a bug! Teething or weaning?

Help. Has anyone had a similar experience and been able to work out the problem?

My 6 month old usually poos anything from 0-3 times a day. However for the past 9 days she’s been having upwards of 6 dirty nappies a day. (From a full nappy to a smear after farting). Some have been watery but others are more ‘normal’. Oddly only once had a dirty nappy overnight always seems to be between 5am until about 7pm. No other symptoms - she is fine in herself, not sleeping great but hasn’t been a great sleeper before.

Been to the doctors and called 111 and they said to wait 2 weeks aslong as no signs of dehydration.

A stool sample was taken and came back ‘normal’. So seems no infection or virus as I would assume.

We combi feed majority breast fed but 1-2 bottles of formula a day. We had started weening her for about 3 weeks but mostly had fruit and veg so far. She didn’t have any common allergens / intolerances in the days before it all started. We have not been given her anything but milk since 2 days after it started on advice of doctor. (we asked should we keep doing solids and he was like ‘I guess might be worth stopping’).

She cut her first two teeth a few days before it all started and their still coming though now so not sure if it’s that but seems a long time?

If anyone has experienced anything similar please let me know. Feel so sorry for her and don’t feel it’s fair to wait it out.

Perfectly normal teething/ weaning in my experience. Unlikely to be a bug if stool sample OK it may be worth waiting it out if she's otherwise OK. I think the extra saliva they produce when teething can affect poos along with the adjustment to solid foods. I would continue weaning and review in another 2 weeks unless there's other symptoms x

If she has had diarrhoea then get some probiotic powder from the chemist. Frequent loose stools can flush out the good bacteria which keeps the runny poo going in a vicious circle. Worth a try.
