I was hoping to get some advice from other parents in the UK that have dealt with very slow progress from the NHS. My eldest daughter who is turning 2 has had Urinary track infection symptoms but all urine tests/swab tests have come back completely fine.

Doctors have been dismissive saying it could be vulvitis and don't recommend treatment. And she is in absolute agony. I feel like a bad mum not being able to take this away from her. Recently she also had lighter brown coloured stools which I'm concerned could be linked to this but doctors dont seem bothered to test.

We have been back and forth at hospitals but all they can do are urine samples. This week we finally got somewhere with her doctor who tried referring us to a specialist but we still haven't heard back even though she said legally there is a maximum 48 hour waiting period.

Has anyone else dealt with anything like this before? Does anyone have any advice on how to push further tests. I'm concerned there is something very wrong here and were not being taken seriously. It is unbearable seeing my little girl in pain like this.

Hi ,yes we did and I'm currently going through a bit of a complaints process with the NHS. Basically she had thrush that whole time (I suspected this at first and was dismissed) I finally managed to get a second opinion in our doctors practice and she said that sometimes Thrush results don't come up as positive but it did look like thrush. She treated her with Clotrimazole cream 1%. And said even if it didn't work it wouldn't harm her to try it. It worked straight away and she is a different child.

Also if doctors have told you it is unlikely it is thrush at their age it isn't necessarily true especially with the humid weather and wearing nappies.

I get the impression it is quite common for children to be neglected for issues like this. We were told it was vulvitis for so long and I knew it wasn't. I think stick with your instincts and put your foot down if needs be. Hope this helps xx
