Enlarged tonsils and adenoids

Please can I ask of your/your child’s experience with enlarged tonsils. We have the following issues and I think it’s a tonsil/ adenoid issues

my girls is 2.7 years old, she’s always been a mouth breather but more recently has started snoring. No sleep apnea that I have yet witnessed

she’s also incredibly fussy with her food, will say she’s hungry but will be painstakingly slow at eating and she needs lots of encouragement to chew, eat. She often asks us to feed her and if we do she isn’t any more receptive or quicker. I’ve spoken with nursery and even though she does eat all of her food, they also face the same challenges.

she’s has enlarged tonsils for quite some time now but when speaking to the doctors they said it’s normal and will go down on their own in time. But this was mentioned on a visit to the doctors when she was poorly so I hadn’t mentioned the snoring or feeding

Is this something you and your child also experienced and did you have tonsils removed as a result? If so did it improve things for your child?

My eldest DS is now 9.
When he was about 4 he started snoring, horrifically. And then the night terrors started nearly every night, about an hour after falling asleep. These gradually got worse and reduced me to tears half the time, they're so scary.
He never really suffered with infected tonsils, though regularly had sore throats?!
After pushing for a few months the doctor referred to ENT who insisted on doing a sleep apnea test too, which did confirm he was struggling with this during the night midly. After a look at the tonsils, he said they're really large for a child of his age. So he was then put in to have the tonsils removed (by this time he was coming to the end of YR at school) once removed we were told there was no surprise as to why he was struggling the way he was, they were massive.
Ever since we've had a couple of night terrors over the years but there is no more snoring, rarely a night terror, no sleep apnea and no sore throats!
He didn't have his adenoids removed so they don't seem to of been playing a part!

I'd definitely push and just keep going and mention snoring etc! Especially regarding eating too.
Hope this help if not, a little xx

Also worth noting all my DS wanted to eat was pasta and cheese, usually because of ease! ☺️
