Confused about chicken pox

Hi all,

Wonder if you can help? My son got chicken pox last Sunday so we are on day 11 (I think.) all his spots are no longer blisters and all have scabs on them and we haven't had any new spots appear since Monday. Reading online it says he is no longer contagious after the spots have scabbed but obviously you can still see them because they are there, just scabbed not blistered...

Does this mean I can take him out now and resume life as normal? Really worried about other peoples reactions but I can't see them going for another couple of weeks due to how long scabbed cuts and grazes last

Yes, you’re good to go once scabbed over.

Yes, ok once scabbed

Yes you can go out and about again.

Yes you can go out, if anyone is nosey & says anything just tell them all scanned over. Scabs can last a good while & nobody expects you to stay at home.

It's the fluid in the blisters that is contagious. Once the scabs are formed, any fluid is contained and then dries up, so no risk of passing it on.

Yes, the scabs can last for a while so it's not uncommon to see the odd scabby child out and about!

Thank you everyone. That is exactly what I needed to know! Grin

My DD had a really awful case of chicken pox in mid April and you can still see the spots. They can take a long time to fade.
