Chickenpox

I'm awaiting a call back from my doctors about my 7 month old baby with chicken pox. She's not really stopped crying for the last 2 days. Can anyone tell me if this looks normal? She's looking quite red and a bit rashy. Thanks

When my child had chicken pox it was less sore looking but more spots. Do you know, no ibuprofen.

Oat baths will help sooth her - fill the foot of an old pair of tight with oats and tie it under the running tap of her bath. I had never heard of this until my DGD had chicken pox and could not believe how much it helped her. She had several baths a day!

They look infected. Dts had it like that and ended up in hospital. I hope she get better soon.

They definitely look infected - my DD had CP at 2 years old and got three spots on her face infected. Now scarred and every time I see them I still feel huge guilt for not spotting it early enough - she's 23 now!

My middle DD had this at 9 months and ended up in hospital under sedation as she was so poorly. She had a really nasty groin infection from where her nappy was, and her mouth was full of blisters - even in her hair.

I get very cross when people say that chickenpox is a mild illness. For some, it really isn't. Poor love, hope they're better soon.
