Following!

I’ve been trying to find one too, I’ve not tried it yet but the internet seems to recommend boots Soltan sensitive skin as above.

As mother of an ex- baby who had terrible eczema; I'd avoid any sun cream. I'd also keep him out of the sun as very sensitive skin reacts to it. I dressed mine in very light loose thin cotton and a sunhat; sun shade on the pram , sun umbrella in the garden etc.

cocksstrideintheevening · 21/05/2023 21:30

Avoid sun cream, keep in the shade.

Soltan is awful.

PointeShoesandTutus · 21/05/2023 21:30

Soltan was horrific on mine. We've not found a perfect one but either La Roche Posey or Ultrasun are the least bad. We do a lot of long sleeves and loose jumpsuits to minimise the skin exposure instead though.

saltrocking · 21/05/2023 21:31

Sun sense. We noticed eurcerin also do one now. But yeah we've used sun sense (recommended by dd dermatologist) for years.

WeightoftheWorld · 21/05/2023 21:35

Both my kids have eczema. DD has been fine with any brand of suncream we've tried, which has mostly been Boots Soltan/Nivea, supermarket own brands etc. DS has been fine with any we have tried except Boots Soltan ones (tried a few in their range) - all gave him a flare-up quite soon after application. I can see a few others have said this was a problem for their child too so I'd probably avoid that and try something else. Nivea do a 'baby' suncream iirc? Which has been fine for both my kids.

HappiDaze · 21/05/2023 21:37

I personally would avoid factor 50 as that gave my DS an eczema type rash

Keroppi · 21/05/2023 21:43

Green People do a nice one but it does stain clothes.

This one. Only factor 30 but doesn't bring out in a rash.

Sunsense is recommended too but it brought my child out in a bad reaction

bakewellbride · 21/05/2023 22:04

Garnier for kids factor 50

Alloveragain3 · 21/05/2023 22:22

Child's farm spray for my son who has severe eczema.

I'd patch test whatever you plan on using as every kid is different.

Iizzyb · 21/05/2023 22:29

I was advised to avoid sprays and just use lotion because there are extra chemicals to make it spray.

We've had all the ones suggested. Sun sense is good

DS is 10 now but I had a mclaren buggy with a super hood that extended a lot further than almost buggies & that kept him out of the sun plus a little gazebo from tesco that i could put up by myself to play in the garden 😊

Firsttimemummmm · 22/05/2023 08:58

Thanks for the advice everyone. Will continue to try and keep him out of the sun. The suncream is mostly for outings when it gets a bit difficult sometimes to keep him in the shade and so want to be on the safe side and ensure his skin stays protected. Will definitely try some patch tests from the cream's recommended and see which one suits him best

When my son was younger and reacted badly to most sunscreens, we were given some on prescription, I think it was called Delph but I'm not sure it exists anymore. The key thing though, seemed to be using a lower factor more often, the kids high factor ones, blocked his pores and caused his skin to react.

I'd also higher recommend bamboo clothing, long tops and long shorts, with a big hat.

Newuser82 · 22/05/2023 09:21

Child's farm is good for mine.

Almie · 22/05/2023 11:44

What about Badger? You can order it from Holland and Barrett - they have three types, I'd go for the generic one with no scent tbh rather than the specific baby or kids one. But that's up to you. The ingredients are the same other than the lack of fragrance.

It uses zinc oxide as its active ingredient, and I believe this can actually be helpful for eczema? Zinc oxide is what is used in some nappy creams I think, so it's a pretty gentle/soothing ingredient.

It is very thick and sticky, but you get used to it.

Candyflosscrochet · 22/05/2023 11:50

Try alturist from amazon. It was developed by a dermatologist.
I had skin cancer and this is highly recommended! I use it on my kids and have no reactions. The difference between factor 30 and 50 is actually not that much but factor 50s always caused skin rashes on my bunch.
