So for about 4-6 weeks my son’s (age 11) right eye was blood shot. No soreness, no pain, no itching, no injury and nothing had entered his eye..

Anyway that disappeared and I thought no more if it.. until about 3 weeks ago, when I noticed what looks like a skin tag thing growing on his top lash line and what looks like a small wart/blistery lump on the inside of his eye, not quite touching his eye anywhere but just inside. I thought it was maybe some sleep or something. today I’ve looked and he’s got another little a skin tag type lump growing in the middle of his eyelid but not on the lash line.

I’m thinking these spurious lumps are actually connected to the bloodshot issue he had before they appeared. I’m worried it’s herpes of some sort.

I’m calling GP tomorrow to get an appointment but wondered if anyone had ever come across anything like this before? I’m totally stumped.

Have you got a picture? It sounds like a stye (google it)

Not at the mo, he’s at his dads. I did Google stye but they looked red. 🤔

And I looked up chalazion but it’s not sore or inflamed and only one is on the lash line. And they’re all normal skin colour.

I would try and get an appointment with an optician for him. I’ve had eye issues and my GP actually referred me to the optician as first port of call.

Oh really? I wondered if it might be a dermatology appointment. But I’ll try optician too! Thank you

Hey 👋🏻 I’m an optometrist, just wanted to pop on to say the GP isn’t the best place for getting help with this. It would be best assessed by an optometrist under a shared care scheme. I don’t know where you live but you can look here for your nearest practice:

I realise this isn’t an emergency but it’s exactly the sort of thing this scheme was designed for. Hard to say from your description but doesn’t sound like herpes or a chalazion

Primary Eyecare provides NHS-funded eyecare services via local opticians

We work with local opticians in England who can help with eye care issues including urgent problems like red eyes, sore eyes or flashes and floaters.

Oh thank you 😊 That’s fantastic. I’ll call a local optometrist up tomorrow for an appointment! It’s the strangest thing.

thanks again x x
