Initially, it started with a temp, loss of appetite and this horrible thick green phlegm came up. It was worse in the mornings, but it slowly got better. Now no more sticky eyes, or hardened snot around nostrils. But the couch had lingered on, worse at night, he'll wake up cough and often throw up. I still use one of this nasal vacuum in the morning and bring up a fair amount of that thick green phlegm. After failing t secure a gp appt, used 111 who booked an appt with them next day. He was seen, done various checks and did not prescribe anything. Gp said as long as he's eating, is himself, drinking not lethargic etc there's no need for antibiotics, she also listened to his chest. I was working that day, so my mum took him. I'm considerinh taking him to a private gp consultation, with their extortionate prices, but I don't see another option. Other than listening to his chest, she has ordered any further test, like a xray to actually check how his lungs are. Any similar experience?

My DS1 really holds onto coughs, 8 weeks isn't uncommon and definitely worse at night. I took him to the GP as I knew overnight coughing was a potential sign of asthma, and while he was cleared of that we were told that he had very large tonsils ("kissing tonsils") and that's likely why things linger for him. Does your DS snore? That's another sign. We're on the waiting list for an ENT appointment (13 months in I think...)

The only time DS1 was prescribed antibiotics the cough cleared up really quickly, so despite his chest sounding clear I do think there was something that the antibiotics helped with. We only got the antibiotics though because the GP felt sorry for us I think! DS2 was on NICU and likely to be there for months, and DS1 had never met his brother because of his cough.

Going through exactly the same thing. I’ve been told it’s Pbb and I’m sure it as as my daughter’s cough cleared with antibiotics but has come back 3 days after a month long course. I’m having to go private to get any traction it’s so frustrating
