Eye / vision issue

My 6 almost 7 year old has suddenly developed vision / perception issues.
Since yesterday she is constantly seeing everything she focuses on going large and small rapidly changing.
I couldn't get her in to her regular optician (which in any event is just one of the big chains) so took her to an eye hospital a&e.
They think that her eyes are slightly unaligned and that she should have had squint surgery at a younger age, plus possible refractive error and that she has been accommodating for the issues with slight head tilt and now the muscles I guess are struggling and this issue has arisen.
He has referred her to a clinic for kids with the right equipment to check everything properly but whilst I sit waiting this appointment:

Anyone with experience of this?
Is she too older for surgery now? Would it work or be an issue because head tilt is now so natural to her (this was a&e docs thought) would surgery clear up the weird vision anyway?
If refractory issue is seen (to note test in October put her at perfect vision) will just glasses fix this?

How long might she have to live like this?

She can go about most of the day normally - up and down stairs is challenging- writing is challenging / less neat and she is getting achy eyes - I guess the muscles are fatigued...
Should I ask school to take any steps whilst it's ongoing not treated?

Should I go private and not wait the app? If so where / who? How to check who's good and right for this?
I'm London and surrounding areas...

Just any info from medical professionals or parents/carers with kids that have been through similar?

Alice in wonderland syndrome...
Poor kid!!!
Thankfully a happy and cheery personality so dealing with like a trooper!!!

How long do you need to wait for the appointment?
Given things have come on suddenly, I would ask about the need for an MRI just to be on the safe side (given the neck position & visual issues at the same time):
Symptom Checker - Signs and symptoms of a brain tumour (headsmart.org.uk)
Honestly, not to worry you but better to be on the safe side.

Symptom Checker - Signs and symptoms of a brain tumour

Check your signs and symptoms with the symptom checker, which can help prepare you for a visit to your GP to be better safe than tumour.

I had catastrophised and worried about the worse at the outset but I think brain tumours impacting sight are detectable by ophthalmologists and if they'd have had any concerns they'd have sent us in that direction.
I've now read a lot about eye muscle spasms from uncorrected issues and it does sound like this...
ReferL letter says soon...
so 🤞not too long to wait to hear - but I'm not sure where I'd go just to request an mri

Ps I don't actually notice an alignment or tilt particularly- I think it was a pretty subtle thing that's always been there rather than a new symptom

It sounds like you’re on top of it & you’re doing everything right. If you feel you’re getting fobbed off then push for more tests. Just trust your gut.

Thanks @BlackSwan
Hopefully my gut is write - but I guess just trying to gage how long it takes for correction to stop the issue as it doesn't sound particularly pleasant to have to deal with and makes her dizzy and eyes hurt/tired

Could it be this? One of my friends little sisters had this as a child.
