Hi my baby boy is 9 weeks old and omg have we Benefit through it. He was born by emergency c section 10 days early, breech. Ended up in a brace at 2 weeks old. For some reason as 2 1/2 weeks he decided he was going to forget how to latch onto a mam bottle. He also had a rash on his face and was terrible with his bottles and in a lot of pain so our doctor has put him on SMA Aalfamino without actually knowing if he has a milk allergy. He seems to be taking the milk ok but he still struggles with his bottles. He is also now on omeprazole as he has bad reflux. As parents we are completely exhausted and just want a Happy content baby. Surely there is something we can do to help him be happier? I try and massage his stomach when he allows, we sit him upright for feeds and his bed is tilted to help with the reflux. We need some advice, some help, guidance? There must be a way we can help him so he is happy more than not. So that he can take and enjoy his bottles, ease his tummy pain and make our lives easier? Anyone else have any of these issues?

Hi I can’t offer any advice but I’m in a similar situation my babies 8weeks old. He was born by elective C-section and I had a somewhat normal pregnancy. When he was born he was rushed to nicu as he wasn’t breathing, I later found out he had 2 possible fits, was not sucking, and basically wasn’t doing the things he was supposed too. He was transferred to a special brain hospital but no one could say what had actually happened. He’s underwent treatment where his body was cooled for 3 days while they monitored he’s brain. To cut a long story short after a week in nicu and special baby unit, he has made a miraculous recovery.

Since bringing him home Iv struggled to get a decent amount of milk into him. He was initially drinking 2-4 oz at 4 weeks but he has only regressed to 1-2 oz at 8 weeks and he sometimes refuses bottles in pain. He gages, coughs and chokes on he’s bottles and I can see he throws up the milk and swallows it down.

He gets hiccups a few times a day and is generally in pain when drinking. He’s hungry all the time but can’t satisfy his hunger. He also has terrible congestion with a blocked nose which makes it very difficult for him to breath while drinking. Just to top it of he has conjunctivitis in both eyes.

I was at the hospital last week cause he refused 3 bottles in a row and was told by the paediatrician that it’s normal fussy baby stuff and he was fine but after witnessing he’s refusal of a bottle has prescribed Gaviscon.

Iv since been back go my own Gp whom told me it was acid reflux and to continue to give him the Gavison and up the dose. But this isn’t helping, again today I’m at the doctors and told to up the dose of gaviscon and mix it with water, giving it to him on a spoon.

im literally at my wits end with endlessly anxious feeding and a miserable baby. I feel I’m winging it hoping that something I do helps. It just seems to be getting worse.

Oh Kcheey, you poor Mumma. You really have been through it too. These babies are seriously hard work and my god do they put us through it. Glad to hear your little one is getting there now. We ended up in A&E today as I was so worried about my little one. Turns out the do think he definitely has reflux so the omeprazole is the right medication to be on, he has colic which isn't wind apparently its an inflammation of his bowels and intestines and there's nothing we can do for that, he will grow out of it by 6 months and we are waiting to see a paediatrician to see if he has a milk intolerance. We had a horrid night last night, I ended up crying my heart out at 6am....waking a neighbour above me...oops. my Husband was on night shift so I was all alone with a poorly screaming baby. My neighbour said I was louder than the baby crying...oops again. But have to say after a good cry and going to the hospital I feel much better and more at ease. And maybe as a result my little Leo is more at ease, he has had a nice bath, finished a bottle (which he hasn't done for days) and he's gone to bed all nice and calm and still. The last week every time I've put him down he's been so restless it's been stressing me out. Fingers crossed these good nights continue as I need a break x

Has he been checked for a tongue tie if he's not latching well onto a bottle (by a proper tongue tie specialist, not a midwife etc). If he's taking in lots or air while feeding, that could be cause problems with reflux and wind. I

He did have tongue tie, which was sorted out 4 weeks ago at the hospital. We have an appt with a paediatrian next week so hopefully they can give us some help and support x
