Banged head- headache next day

looking for someone to steady my arm!
im away with my dd6 on my own. Yesterday she slipped on a small climbing wall -
one of those small slopes with a rope you use to climb up to a slide. It was wet and she slipped at the top and fell backwards, landing on the back of her head / neck in wood chips. I think she also banged it on the wooden board she was climbing up but as my back was turned until I heard her yell I can’t be quite sure.
she cried but quickly stopped, no obvious swelling or cuts and seemed
fine.
today, twice, she’s complained of a sore head. she pointed separately to 2 different areas when I asked where it hurt. She’s been eating and drinking normally. After saying it was sore she seemed fine 10 mins later.
I’ve not know my kids to have a headache unless they have a fever Which she doesn’t, and I’m just wondering if this could be related to yesterday’s fall in Which case should she get checked out? Or is it more likely to be a random headache?
We are so rural it’s making me twitchier than if I was in the city as such a far drive from a Gp.

(have attached a pic of something similar
To what she fell from)

thank you so much.

I would say it's more than likely related to the fall yesterday. Did you check her for signs of concussion? How hard was the fall? Give her Calpol if you can to help with the pain and see how she goes today but I would expect it to go today / tomorrow. Of course, if she shows any other symptoms (vomiting, lethargy, avoidance of bright lights) then take her to be assessed by GP / A&E

Could be soft tissue bruising/tenderness.

wobblymum1 · 14/04/2023 11:32

it was a proper fall but onto playpark wood chips not concrete. no other signs of concussion. She’s said once it hurts this morning but is playing normally in between 🤷‍♀️And slept well. So it’s not getting worse. urgh hate not knowing and it’s so odd hearing her say her head is sore.

I wouldn't worry @wobblymum1 - kids are prone to headaches and, as another PP said, it could be a soft tissue bruise / tenderness. If she gets worse today then I would seek medical attention but it sounds like the headache was caused by nothing more than a knock to the head.

Firstly, I'm not a doctor. However, my DC have had concussion 4 times through sport and accidents at school. I would say I'd expect your DD to have a sore head after a fall onto her head. Like others have said, probably a bump or bruise, which my two often have. Check the NHS advice online for what to look out for re concussion. At A&E, with actual concussion, we have always been sent home as long as they haven't been sick more than 3 times (which seems rather arbitrary to me) and are alert.

thank you!
id say every few hours she says it’s sore but she’s not crying and is eating and drinking normally and seems fine In between and playing normally. and no vomiting.
its really reassuring to hear you think its related to her bump and nothing else. Hate being alone at these points!

How is your DD now @wobblymum1? Hope she's much better
