Eczema won't go away

Hi all,

I've tried a few creams and treatments on my two year old but it seems to be getting worse.

I'm not sure what else I can try?

Take DC to a doctor. It looks like it needs a steroid cream; nothing OTC will cut it. I use mometasone furoate.

This looks infected, I would go to the docs and get some steroid cream to clear it. I suffered with eczema up until I was a young adult and found the best ways of reducing it or preventing outbreaks were:

  • avoid been in the bath for too long
  • avoid most creams unless it was oilatum, coconut oil or aveeno cream
  • use one of the above creams before bathing or showering
Once an outbreak happened I still did the a above but would use a cold compress on it to avoid scratching it. The oilatum bath stuff was also a godsend. I hope he feels better soon

Have you been to the Gp for treatments? I would keep going back each time something doesn’t work. Looks like it needs a steroid one like hydrocortisone. Have you looked at his diet? Any allergies etc. Aveeno in the pump bottle and the green lid (think it’s the regular oatmeal one) is really good and cleared my little ones legs which were very sore. Don’t buy the baby aveeno as it’s highly fragranced. But I wouldn’t keep buying creams, I’d be really pushing the gp for help.

Poor little child. That looks awful. My son constantly has eczema on his cheeks too. From the creams I have used, hydrocortisone 1% seems to be the best but I assume you’ve tried that. One of the others I tried was Protopic 0.03% and, when eczema has calmed down, Mustela Stelatopia balm as a daily moisturiser. Presumably you’ve been to GP and Pharmacists and tried all their creams. Perhaps ask for a referral to a dermatologist? My dentist suggested cutting out dairy as her son’s eczema went away when she switched him to oat milk.

Hydrocortisone crème

If that doesn't work try aloe Vera gel
