Our 2 and a half year old has been N.O.M. stop ill since starting nursery in September, this weeks illness is croup 😩we also have an 18 month old who is poorly too. I'm giving both calpol but what else can I do? I took them out in buggy yesterday twice cos I read cool air is good. They both have no appetite either which is very unusual

I was recommended difflam spray when my DS had croup. It helps numb the pain. Instructions for young children is "Children under 6: 1 puff for each 4 kg of body weight, up to a maxiumum of 4 puffs, 1 1/2 - 3 hourly."

I wouldn't worry too much about lack of appetite, just make sure you're giving them plenty fluids and hydrating foods (if they'll eat them). Ice lollies are always my go-to when my girls are ill.
Give ibuprofen in between calpol doses

Please don't use difflam for croup. You risk making thing much worse. It's an upper respiratory illness, not a sore throat.

Croup is usually worse on a night, have you seen a GP/Medical Professional for the diagnosis OP? What advice did they give you?

Hi I've just spoken with doctor who said there's a really nasty chest infection going round and he's given them both antibiotics
